Curating

I am a private art dealer and consultant offering bespoke services to artists and collectors. I have a long history in the art world stretching back to the SoHo era, with parents who owned a gallery. I also write about art often, and have done various essays on hire.
I graduated from Bradford College in 1994 with a degree in Humanities focusing on literature, writing, and history. After that I ran my father's art gallery, which focused primarily on Conceptual Artists, from 1994-2001. I also intermittently worked as as intern at Artforum Magazine and a preparator at El Museo Del Barrio.
My career in art writing began in 1996 and my independent curating 4 years later. These activities brought me into contact with new communities of artists and different walks of life in New York and beyond. I continued to write and curate profusely, organizing exhibitions in commercial galleries and non-traditional spaces. I also joined historically important artist-run nonprofits as a board member, organized artist lecture and panel series, and traveled to lecture and curate at many state universities and regional nonprofit galleries.
Recently I have been involved in organizing online exhibitions and writing essays for select artists. I also offer private career agenting services. If you would like further information, please use the link at the bottom of this page to get in touch.
Sincerely Yours
David Gibson
